Maple French Toast Bake
Breakfast · 55 min · Serves 6 · Easy · Best with Amber Rich maple syrup
A make-ahead breakfast casserole soaked overnight in maple custard and baked until golden. Perfect for holidays and lazy weekends.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf thick-cut brioche or challah bread, cubed
- 6 large eggs
- 1½ cups whole milk
- ½ cup pure maple syrup (Amber Rich)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tbsp maple sugar for topping
Method
- Grease a 9x13 baking dish. Spread bread cubes evenly in the dish.
- Whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Pour custard mixture over the bread. Press gently so bread absorbs the liquid.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or at least 2 hours).
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Drizzle melted butter over the top and sprinkle with maple sugar.
- Bake 35–40 minutes until puffed, golden, and set in the center.
- Let cool 5 minutes. Serve with extra maple syrup and fresh berries.
| Tip: Amber Rich maple adds a warm sweetness that soaks deep into the bread overnight. Prep it the night before and just pop it in the oven in the morning. |
